It's been awhile.... Back with new makeup

Hello everyone!

I haven't been blogging about makeup for one simple reason: I didn't buy makeup for a year. I know I should blog anyway but I felt like if I didn't buy anything it wasn't worth blogging. I'm not a makeup artist or have any clients, so buying 1000$ to 3000$ makeup a year just to show on my blog wasn't worth it and I didn't want to buy things and use it once.

I blog for me, I buy my stuff, I don't get anything from companies. I do it because I love makeup and even if I have 1 or 100 people reading my blog I'm happy.

So this year, I'll be buying some makeup. drugstore or high end and will continue to blog about it and sometimes do a get ready.

Let's get started.

I went to Sephora last week and bought some stuff but for now I'll show you one of them instead of all at the same time.

Smashbox Double Exposure (60.00$)

This palette has 14 eyeshadows (0.042 oz. each) and can become 28 just by adding water to them.

First row: Silver, Mauve, Peony, Blanc, Quartz, Flushed, Veiled
Second row: Midnight, Temper, Haze, Noir, Copper, Fig, Espresso

Also included is a Full exposure deluxe mascara sample

It also has a chart of what the eyeshadow will be like when you add water: deeper shade, metallic or sparkle look.

 First row without flash

 With flash

 Second row without flash

 With flash

It also comes with a how-to look which I forgot to take a picture of.
I haven't played with it that much but I like it. It's pigmented, I only tried it dry and with my skin tone it shows a lot. the names are photography references.  I will do some pictures of my looks in the coming weeks.

I also bought this great book on the Chapters website

500 Eye-makeup designs by  Kendra Stanton who is a makeup artist (17.55$ cdn)

It's basically all different eye designs for people who want to create new looks, either for day, night, sport teams colors, look like a movie star, movie makeup like the Hunger games, Halloween, Holidays and many more. Here's some examples (sorry the book is pretty new so the pages were closing so my fingers are in plain view!):

I can't wait to try some and to take pictures. My only negative thing is that she doesn't say the colors that she choose but I think the main idea is to check your makeup and try to find the exact or similar eyehadows.

That's it for now but will be back soon!

Take care!

Dom

J'adore 2013 - My favorites for 2013

Happy new year!

Hope for all of you a great 2014, filled with joy and happiness and most of all health!

I've compiled my most used and faves of 2013 :) (l'm not gonna do swatches, it will be too long!)

Mascara

Clinique High impact: it's soft, it gives some length and a lot of volume
Cover girl Clump crusher: like it says clump crusher, don't need to say more!
Rimmel Lash accelerator: gives a lot of length to my lashes, love it!

Face primer

Lancome La base
BH Cosmetics anti-serum
NYX Shine Killer
L'Oreal Revitalif Miracle blur

I have combination skin and using these face primers did the job. I went from retouching my face 2-3 times a day to only once. The most suprising one was the L'Oreal, it's expensive ( I bought it on sale at 25$) and the texture is smooth and leaves your face matte. I bought the new one that is oil-free, didn't use it yeat since you don't need a lot for your face it might take some time to finish the one l'm already using.

Foundation

NYX Stay matte but not flat
Maybelline Fit me stick in number 355
Maybelline Fit me liquid foundation in no 360
BH Cosmetics Liquid Foundation in Deep beige
I used to wear the MAC foundation in NW45, it's great but too expensive. These ones are less than 10$ (BH is 5-6$ and are on sale almost every month for 4$)and to me they do a wonderful job. They stay on, they don't oxydize.

Powder

Ben Nye banana powder
Maybelline Fit me pressed powder in no 355
Rimmel Stay matte in translucent

Rimmel is a late entry in 2013 and I had to include it since it did a great job. The Ben Nye became my fave, you don't need a lot and the bottle will last me for years. The maybelline is always in my makeup bag, I might try a more expensive one this year but for drugtore Maybelline will be my top one.

Lip gloss

All NYX: Cafe latte, Sand dune, Apricot and Stockhlom lip cream. Pigmented and love the fruity smell!

Eyeshadow Base

Milani Primer
Too faced Shadow insurrance
MAC Painterly painpot
Keeps my eyeshadow on for hours. The Milani is at a cheap price but for me it works so well.

Eyeshadows

Makeup Geek eyeshadows: I bought my first z palette in october and it was love at first sight. The eyeshadows are soooo pigmented, soft, not expensive. I bought more in December and still not dissapointed.

Sugarpill Burning Heart palette and Wet n Wild Comfort zone: I wore the Sugarpill at least once a week during the summer, the colors are incredible, got a lot of compliments with thisone. The wet n wild, for the price, the color payoff is off the hook!!

Lorac pro palette: You love it or you don't, there were a lot of mixed reviews for this one but I love it!

Inglot freedom system: This is my first buy from Inglot and was not dissapointed. Pigmented, I love the structure of the palette, my only thing is that there is some fallout but nothing to complain about.

Lipstick

I love lipstick can't get enough, these are the ones I used the most.
(l. to r.): Revlon lip butters Brown sugar and Creme brulee
Avon - Sheer mocha
Cover girl - Enchant and Smitten
Revlon - Berry haute and Wine not
Avon - Vamp

Blushes

I was always afraid to wear blushes. To me it was always white people who can wear blushes. I've been wearing some since the spring and it became my essential thing when I wear makeup.

Sleek Flushed, Jordana (Sienna, Cinnamon spice and Terracotta treasure).

Concealer

Covergirl stick in medium/deep, NYX in nutmeg, Maybelline in cafe and black circles eraser in medium.

Face cleanser/ moisturizer

Sephora Supreme cleansing oil: late entry in 2013 but with this makeup just melts and the oil is not heavy, washes away quickly.

Clarisonic Mia 2: also a late entry. Got it in the beginning of december. I've been putting it off for a year and decided to invest and l'm happy I got it!

Olay Pro X face cleanser: I used this cleanser before the Mia 2. It's less expensive (around 30$) I think it helped me not have a purge moment with the Clarisonic. There's two speed. I use it with the Simple facial crub and it doesn wonders!

Simple products: For sensitive skin and just love it. I've tried almost everything for the brand and will continue using it.

Josie Maron Argan oil: Great face moisturizer

Hair

I tend to change my hair from curly to straight and when I leave it straight I use the l'Oreal Eversleek products. The shampoo has no sulfate and the conditioner no sillicone and for me being a black woman I have a lot of hait and it's very fine, using these products it leaves my hair soft, doesn't strip my hair of moisture. The tresseme Thermal creations helps with the not burning my hair and leaves my hait straight for a long time!

These products I use when I have my hait curly. Doesn't dry my hair, Helps in having a looser curls since I curl soo much.

John Frieds finishing creme (great for straight or curly hair)
Biosilk Silk therapy
Morrocan curling perfection defining cream
Extenzz prevents curls to shrink

Nails

Revlon Extra life no chip top coat and Seche vite top coat: these two together keeps my nail polish on for at least 6 days.

Well that's it (that's a lot) I want to thank all of you for following me. I don't have a lot of followers but I apreciate all of you. I do this for fun and not trying to be the most popular one or looking for freebies, l'm doing this because I love makeup and love to talk about it!

Have a good one!

Sephora and drugstore Haul

Hello everyone!

Hope you guys are having a great sunday. Here in Montreal, it's cold and it's snowing a lot, great day to stay indoors!

I've been making my list for Sephora since october thinking I was going to go on Boxing day but since the Naked 3 from Urban Decay was coming out on the 12th in Montreal, I decided to go buy most of the thing I wanted right now.

(Alle the prices are in canadian and I bought everything with my own money).

Before going to Sephora, I went to the Drugstore (Jean Coutu) because there was a sale on Vichy (30% off)

Vichy Pureté Thermale 3 in one calming cleansing for sensitive skin (27.49$)
I have the milk cleansing and I wanted to try the liquide one and see what the difference was

Vichy Refeshing toner for normal to combination sensitive skin (12.99$), I bought 2 of this one.I tried it last night and so far I like it.

Simple Cleansing wipes for sensitive skin (6.99$), it was on sale regular price 9.99$. I love this brand, I used almost everything they have and it's so soft for the skin and I don't break out. Since it was on sale I bought 2.

Maybelline Fit me foundation in number 360 (6.99$) This is my second bottle, the other one is almost empty. It is my favorite foundation.

Covergirl lipstick in Smitten (6.99$), a beautiful plum color.

Now to my Sephora stuff!

Naked 3 (yeaahhh), There was a lot of people at Sephora near my place, I was worried there wouldn't any left but lucky me there was 4 left. Paid 62$

So far I like this palette, my only negative thing is the color Dust, it's chalky and a lot of glitter but the rest is wonderful.

Stila In the know palette (50$). It's all matte, I didn't see a lot of reviews online but when i tried it in the store I liked it.It comes with a waterproof liner in Halfmoon and a Lookbook.

Air, wind, Desert, Clay, Earth, Driftwood, Fire, Rain, Smoke, Ebony and Halfmoon liner. I like the colors they are very earthy tone colors.

Lookbook

OCC lip tar All-star mini (25$). I saw this online and when I got to the store it was nowhere to be found, I ask a salesperson and she told me it was  not a display item  only if you ask for it they get it in  the back item.

Memento, NSFW, Anime and BlacK Dahlia

Sephora Give me more lip sampler (71$). There was only one left and a woman was holding it, I kinda stayed next to her to see if she was going to buy it, thank you for putting it back so I could buy it! 16 lipsticks which includes 4 full size products

Reds: Kat von D (foiled love), Hourglass (Icon), Makeup Forever (natural N45) and Bite (Pomegrate).

Pinks: Kat von D (everlasting love), Smashbox (pout), Too faced (marsmallow bunny) and Bare Minerals (never say never).

Berry: Tarte (Inspired) , OCC (Strumpet), Buxom (Menace), Stila (Sonya)

Nudes: Smashbox (Nylon nude), Laura Mercier (Bare naked), Buxom (White Russian), Stila (Dolce),

I like this collection, it gives me a chance to try on different brand names, before I can buy the full size.

Josie Maran Argan oil serum with radiance for hair (blue one) and the argain oil for face and body with radiance (20$)
I tried the regular one this summer and I wanted to try these one. It's not to heavy for the hair. The face one I haven't tried it yet since the 100% argain oil that I have it's still not finish.

Urban Decay anti-anging eyeshadow primer (28$), Heard good things about this one

Beauty Blender Solid cleaner (20$) This is my second one, love it!

Sephora Supreme cleansing oil (18$), great cleanser not too heavy. Bought 2 of this.

Philosphy Purity facial cleanser (52$ for 24oz) heard that it' s a perfect combination with the Clarisonic, can't wait to try it.

I got these as samples: Dior J'adore perfume and Philosphy full of promise serums night and day

And since I bought all these stuff I became a VIB member

also I went to target and bought the oil free Miracle Blur by L'Oreal on sale at 21.99$, I have the regular one and I like it wanted to try the oil-free since l'm combo skin and it might be better than the regular one.

With the VIB card I got a 10% card so there's a good chance I might use it on the Full siz Josie Maran argain oil when I go shopping on the 26th.

I still have one more week of work and then two weeks of well deserved vacation. It will give me time to work on my 2013 favorites. I bought on friday more Makeup Geek eyeshadows, will do swatches when I get them.

Have a good week everyone :)
